2012 International Applications

Dear Genetics Trainers,

The Genetics Admissions Committee decided in 2001 to pursue a "direct admit" process for international graduate students, only. Since we have started doing this (2001), 10 students have been directly admitted. Seven have graduated, one is in the third year of the program, one is in the first year of the program, and one has left the program.

The Admissions Committee reviewed our international student applicants and have identified students as prospective direct admit students. These students would have all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of our graduate students but would not do rotations. These students would be directly admitted to your lab.

The direct admit students follow all the programmatic elements of the Genetics PhD training program.

You would interview the student(s) however you choose. Should you decide to have a student join your lab, the offer letter must come from the Admissions Committee on your behalf.

If you decide to accept a direct admit student into your lab, please contact Jean Petersen who will initiate the next steps.
