New course: Introduction to
Wildlife

Forest and Wildlife 375, lecture 2*

3 credits

Course description: This course is designed to provide students from all
majors with an introduction to basic principles and current issues in
wildlife conservation and management. The first part of the course will
cover terrestrial vertebrate diversity and history and trends in wildlife
conservation. Then students will learn about basic characteristics,
ecology, and management of wildlife populations and habitats. In the
middle part of the course we will discuss wildlife-human interactions
including human values and attitudes towards wildlife,
wildlife-associated recreation, and wildlife law and policy. The last
part of the course will be devoted to current issues in wildlife
conservation, focusing on those most relevant to Wisconsin.
