Student Hourly Position  Available Immediately

 Title:  Student Laboratory Assistant

 Description:  The UWBC Transgenic Animal Facility is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented undergraduate to work 7-8 hours per week during the academic year and 15-20 hours per week during the summers.  Preference will be given to students in their sophomore year as of fall, 2010 that are able to start their training immediately and commit to working during summer 2011.

 Duties:  Work weekdays between 8 AM and 3 PM. Specific duties include general laboratory maintenance, dishwashing, organizing, preparing solutions, data entry, DNA purification and PCR.  Must be willing to handle laboratory animals. Responsibilities will increase with experience.

 Background:  Prior or concurrent coursework in general chemistry, basic lab experience in a chemistry or molecular biology lab. Should have strong interest in the evolving science of molecular genetics.
