Genetics Email

The Laboratory of Genetics can provide email addresses in the genetics.wisc.edu sub-domain. These addresses are available to all faculty and staff upon request to support@genetics.wisc.edu.

Who provides these email accounts?

They are provided by Google Apps as part of their Education Edition offered to academic instititions. More information is available at: http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/index.html.

Must the email address be the same as my Wiscmail account?

No, you can have any available address you wish. Labs, special interest groups, etc can have an email address at genetics.

What about support?

Genetics IP will provide limited support, and there is also support at Google itself. The accounts are standard GMail accounts.

Pop, Imap or Webmail?

Your choice, GMail supports them all! Webmail access is at http://webmail.genetics.wisc.edu.

How do I setup my email program?

Follow the instructions at http://mail.google.com/support/?ctx=about&hl=en. Your will need to use your username@genetics.wisc.edu in place of username@gmail.com.
